MOVE: a #metoo inspired event {video}

I had the humble privilege of being included among fourteen women sharing their stories of survival at ‘MOVE: a powerful evening of storytelling inspired by #metoo’ in my hometown of Dayton, Ohio. My friend captured my performance of the prose piece “violence unsilenced” during the event, which is in the video above. I am forever grateful to Bridget Flaherty, Lisa Grisgby, the Dayton Story Slam organizers and community, and Dayton Most Metro for including me in this event and holding me within this precious space. Extra gratitude is due to the women with whom I shared the stage and the friends both new and old who came out in support. All proceeds from the evening went to the Artemis Center, our local domestic violence shelter and resource center.

To anyone who has found themselves to be ina situation of intimate violence — please know you are never alone. We are here, we love you, and we need you.  Please visit the National Domestic Violence Hotline and/or RAINN for support and resources.
