a year+ in the life of my evolving, offbeat aesthetic as i navigate being
a mid-30s-femme-grown-up-emo-punk-single-mom-graduate-student-non-profit-employee-fashionista.

So this will be the first time I’m literally blogging what I’m wearing at this very second.

When your big NYE plans are working the big event at your workplace and heading out with your coworkers after, you have to balance your most professional version of your party self and perhaps also bring a small bag of shoes for the various versions of your night you know you will encounter.

I had this dress in the back of my closet for a year, and had I been able to go to my annual holiday party earlier this month, this would have been the one I would have worn. When I bought it, it actually didn’t fit quite right as I was at my thinnest (and sickest), but now that I’ve gained some weight and therefore curves back it’s exactly the dress I hoped it would be.

It may not be my sparkliest garb, but we all know I’m not afraid of wearing sequins on any old day.

I’m leaning in to the fact that red truly is my color, and embrace everything that comes with being the lady in red.

Happy New Year, friends. May you have fun, stay safe, and welcome 2019 in all the ways you love the most.
