This is the holiday outfit to wear if your function is more a formal fête and/or you’re trying to impress say, family members of a significant other or something. Or, if you’re like me, you use just about any opportunity to dress up like the ghost of Coco Chanel herself is whispering in your ear about lipstick and confidence.

What I love about this getup is that it’s actually not all that holiday themed, if you look at it. No individual piece is overly thematic, but in putting it together, it feels festive. And, the skirt is actually a wee bit stretchier than you’d initially think and the sweater is just a soft fine knit cotton, so it’s deceptively comfortable while bringing the wow factor I live for. Aside from the glitter lip overlay and the curls, this is actually my very basic face that I do every day for work, so it’s also a low-effort look that didn’t require extra effort, which is perfect for the holiday season.

I actually wore this outfit on a holiday-themed family date night after a day shift at work that ended at a party where I was 100% overdressed but honestly, that rarely bothers me anymore. Because if you can’t show up to a social occasion and masquerade as a literal (albeit muted) disco ball, are you actually living your best life?

That’s a rhetorical question.
