Fun fact about me: I have been this height since 5th grade, which is absolutely as terrifying and uncomfortable as it sounds. Actually, I recently discovered that I’m 5’9” and have been for nearly all the years I’ve been seeing my OB/GYN (which has been since high school) ... I previously thought I was 5’7.5” because that’s what I consistently measured at in middle school by my general practitioner. Add to that an inseam of 35.5” and ... well, as sure as there are perks to being proper Rockette measurements, there are pitfalls.
Like wearing overalls. Not just because I’ll never find ones actually long enough to cover my ankles that don’t result with the crotch being essentially at my knees (though these are a close call), but because I distinctly remember wearing them back in the mid-90s and my body was pretty much exactly the same then as it is now. So sometimes when I look in the mirror I feel like I’m looking at my 13-year-old self with long hair and tattoos and I want to reach through and just hug her and tell her how wonderful she is despite everything she thinks she knows. I could save us so much heartache.
But then I guess we’d end up a different person and likely would not have the people we do in our lives and a lot of that is just absolutely irreplaceable, so.
Also, meet the Lulu the Cow. She is a wreck and a mess and likely the best dog I’ve ever known. Her joy for life knows no bounds, and neither does her need for affection or dog biscuits from the behind neighbors. She came around front and was THRILLED! TO! SEE! MOM!! despite my not having any biscuits in any of these 87 pockets on these things or in my slouchy non-work days purse. She’s just a good girl like that.
